Transition program

Starting school is an important step in a young child's life and 'Is my child ready for school?' is a question asked by many parents. Palmers Island Public School can help you decide when to make that step for you and your child. Your child can start Kindergarten at the beginning of the school year if they turn five on or before 31 July in that year. A Transition to School program can assist in achieving a positive start to school.

Our program

Our transition program at Palmers Island Public School will:

  • assist pre-schoolers in making a successful adjustment to the school enrolment
  • offer an opportunity to participate in classroom activities
  • allow the children to practise skills necessary for school
  • encourage new friendships and develop a support system
